Availability Viewer Shows Busy All Day (Microsoft 365)
If BusyCal’s Availability Viewer shows an attendee as busy all day even though Outlook shows them as available, it usually means BusyCal is receiving (or interpreting) the attendee’s free/busy data differently than the Outlook UI you’re comparing against.
Quick checks
- Update BusyCal to the latest version available for your distribution (Direct/App Store/Setapp).
- Confirm the “blocking” item is truly an all-day event marked as Free (not a timed event that spans most/all of the day).
- If possible, verify the attendee’s calendar in Outlook on the web to confirm the free/busy state.
Notes
- BusyCal’s Availability Viewer relies on the calendar service’s free/busy data. If Microsoft reports an event as blocking time, BusyCal will treat it as busy.
- Free/busy behavior can vary depending on account type and server configuration.
